EP07 Halal science center & production of alternative meat
"First on air 17 April 2021"

There were 1.8 billion Muslims in the world as of 2015, or roughly 24 percent of the global population. However, Islam is the fastest-growing major religion. It is expected that if the current demographic trends continue, the number of Muslims is to exceed the number of Christians by the end of this century. With such a growth of Muslim population, the demand of food particularly consumed by Muslims, or halal food, will be undoubtedly rising as well. Chulalongkorn University houses a Halal Science Center, which contributes to the production of halal food. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Winai Dahlan, founding director of the center, discusses the role of this institute and the industry of alternative meat in serving the growing Muslim population.
